Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides technical product support and technical leadership within the Coherent sales function. This includes feasibility check and design support on a feasibility level.
  • Provides technical details and customer specification to application engineering or product line managers.
  • Support internally the creation of product specs per customer requirements for quotation and manufacturing, pre and post-sales support of specialty product designs.
  • Coordinate long-term quality improvement projects between customers and Coherent.
  • To provide a high level of support and leadership to assigned key accounts, it is critical that the incumbent deal directly with end customers, account management, and other support functions in a professional and timely manner as well as maintains a high level of customer intimacy unique to the role of TSS.
  • Serves as the primary interface between Sales and Product Marketing/Management for assigned product lines.
  • Give guidance to KAMs/AMs regarding customers with challenging technical requirements
  • Lead for internal product training focused on BU/PL
  • Support BU/PL with regards to mid-/ long-term market demands and market potential
  • Support BU/PL in the budget and 5 year planning process

Education & Experience

  • A BA/BS degree in Science or Engineering; Background in Physics, Optics, Lasers, Electro-Optics, or Photonics.
  • 1-5yrs of technical sales experience in the BU/PL related industry

  • Ability to understand the customer’s application/business problem, need, or opportunity and support the design of a solution that appropriately addresses the business need/problem.
  • Provide technical design and product application support to global sales team and external customers.
  • Able to provide architectural direction to sales/pre-sales team.
  • Aware of future technology or operational trends as they relate to offering area.
  • Ability to systematically gather, assess and apply technical, operational and sales/marketing information for business decisions.
  • Has a track record of strong innovation, as well as great collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Has passion, drive, persistence and creativity in the relevant solution/offering area.
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills, be able to understand complex business processes and data, make decisions independently and implement solutions.
  • Proven ability to effectively transfer technically complex information to an audience with more limited technical expertise.
  • Ability to build and sustain strong business relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams in product development activities.
  • Recommend product enhancements and updates to identify new business opportunities.
  • Supports marketing team in developing sales and marketing strategies for profitability.
  • Help to establish pricing strategies and guidelines for new product development.
  • Serves as a valuable resource to others within the global sales organization.
